Sigil of Idiosyncratic Balance
"When I was a teen, a friend drew for me, this symbol's progenitor. A representation life's elements, in me. Earth, water, air, and heat live within us. As my Mbyá ancestors might say, creation's 'light and friction'. However removed one might feel from the natural world, here is medicine I was given... A village elder said to my relative, who is, like me, many generations away from village life, 'Do not forget who you are. It is.' Who we are, who we have been, is timeless. A local Makah elder and friend told me, 'we have grandparents from two thousand years ago, who love us just as much as our parents might. And my now late Coast Salish instructor confided in me, 'If you go back far enough, there is a drum, a song, and a fire.' We are a balance of all this... and are inextricably connected to where we have come from." Maddox Lightning~
